Called to the Ontario Bar 2013 (Call to Alberta Bar pending)
Sharan practices civil and quasi-criminal/regulatory litigation, and she’s building a practice in elevator liability, estates litigation, insurance coverage and employment law. Sharan proudly acts on behalf of individuals, multinational corporations and everyone in between. When you hire Sharan, you get both intellect and street-smarts. Crafting arguments, analyzing novel issues, and making the law work for her clients at every stage of a lawsuit is what fills Sharan’s days – and she loves it.
Sharan’s legal career was preceded by experience conducting agricultural research, providing therapy for autism clients and holding various roles in government. She has been trying to forget her stint as a telemarketer. In law school, she worked at a Community Legal Clinic on matters involving criminal records, employee rights, internet privacy and landlord tenant disputes. While working at a large national law firm, Sharan advised corporations on aspects of multimillion dollar transactions, assisted with employment arbitrations and drafted wills. Before Rapley & Company, Sharan also worked at an insurance defence firm on Bay Street where she managed a huge number of personal injury, motor vehicle liability, accident benefits and insurance coverage files.
Sharan earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science (Hons.) in Biology and Psychology at the University of Windsor and her law degree at the University of Ottawa. While at law school, Sharan served as the Vice President of her faculty’s student council. Sharan also spent a semester studying international law and business in Vienna, Austria. She is a member of The Advocates’ Society, The Canadian Defence Lawyers, and the South Asian Bar Association of Toronto. Sharan speaks Hindi and Punjabi.
When Sharan isn’t in court, she is busy pursuing her ultimate goal to visit every restaurant our lovely city of Toronto has to offer. She’ll get there. She’s the go-to food guide for her friends and clients. Sharan is part way through her “365 Photo Project” – she photographs and journals one key moment of every day. Her 2018 photos have featured her thriving succulents, the beach and surf visible from her office and the firm’s signature orange door. Come check it out yourself!
